We have lost count of the number of requests we have had from customers who want a very aged look to our highly acclaimed fingerplates. Our unlaquered fingerplates are a great start; they arrive shiny but do dull down with time. But "dull down" is not the same as "aged" - you know the kind; where the metal is darkly tarnished, with bright relief on raised patterns from daily contact and use.
The process of obtaining an aged fingerplate is really quite simple - just put up a fingerplate on your door, use it for 100 years or so, and "hey presto!" - an aged fingerplate. :)
The problem we have discovered is that in this day and age of "instant everything", people are just not patient enough to wait the 100 years or so to obtain this effect - they want to have and enjoy this look in their homes today.
So we have spent the last year in continual research mode. And today we are absolutely delighted and indeed very proud to announce an outstanding result! We have succeeded in creating two finishes with an "old look" for our very own range of fingerplates. One for our brass fingerplates and one for our copper range.
